About.

My name is Ashley Bess Lane (sometimes referred to as Ashley Bess or Ashley Bee)

Before moving to Dubai, I lived four years in the UK, two of which spent in glorious London.

Just landed myself my first, full-time, well-paid publishing job. New Editor of Sound and Stage ME magazine. Super stoked!

Before publishing, I was an English teacher in a British Secondary and Post-16 school. It was an eye opening experience, but not I one I’d ever want to repeat.

I’m a native Jersey-ite, though was born in New York state.

The New York Yankees are my baseball team. Newcastle United is my football team.

I have an amazing, funny, smart and supportive husband. We make each other laugh, even if no one else finds us funny.

Traveling is like air: If we were to stop, I’m not sure what I’d do.

I’m a coffee and book snob. I’m also okay with this.

Kurt Vonnegut is my writing hero and inspiration. I’ll probably never write a book, but if I were, I’d hope to one day gain the same respect amongst the writing community as he did.

Wine is delicious and I’m looking forward to learning more about it (right now, I’m on a Cote du Rhone kick).

I’m a runner though I don’t have the body of one. I’m learning to be okay with this.

Fashion has recently become an interest of mine. It would make me very happy to land myself a position, one day, writing about a kind of art that we live our lives in.

I’m a stickler for grammar (and yes, I realise that my previous statement ended in a preposition…).

I play ultimate frisbee. I wanted so badly to go to space camp as a kid. I wore braces for four years. To this day I have unruly curly hair that sometimes imitates a yield sign and other times trumps Monica’s hair in friends. I’m a Treckie, love Star Wars, The Matrix, and all action hero movies. In a nut shell, I’m a nerd.

Thank you so much! I’ve had blogs in the past that just went (‘scuse the phrasing) tits up, so I’m trying desperately not to let that happen to this one. Looking forward to reading more of yours as well! :)

And now living in London? Isn’t it such a great city! I hope you’re enjoying your time there (and I’m quite happy to semi-live vicariously through your posts as I very much miss the city :-) lol)
